A Proclamation
In
this Jubilee Year of 2010,
let those living and those who shall come after,
now join with us, the Brethren of the Holy Cross,
to offer praise and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ
who upon the Cross secured the victory of life over death.
We brothers now assembled in General Chapter
joyfully lift up our voices in thanksgiving
for the gracious blessings bestowed upon us
through eight centuries of religious life
and in the renewal of this decade past.
We pledge to continue this pilgrimage of faith,
sparked by our founding fathers,
constituted in our rule of life,
and refreshed time and again
by a revival of our charismatic gifts.
In this time and place,
strengthened by our faith in the Lord Jesus,
empowered by the Spirit,
and sent as on a pilgrimage to the one Father,
this committed fraternity of love,
with glad hearts and renewed spirits,
persists still in service and witness to the kingdom.
In our life and ministry
we have known the joy of proclaiming the gospel
and of being a living sacrament of God’s love.
In bearing and lifting up the exalted Cross,
we have also come to know our sinfulness,
and the graciousness of God’s mercy.
In obedience to God’s love,
we gather at the table of Word and Sacrament,
on this most holy day of the Exalted One,
and we are once again reconciled
with the limits of our human frailty,
yet humbled by the vastness of God’s compassion.
So blessed with the charism of this fraternal life,
let the love of the crucified and risen Lord Jesus,
sustain us and all brothers of the Cross
scattered throughout God’s world.
Let the young who are touched by the Word of the Cross,
let the old who are sustained by the Power of the Cross,
let us, brothers one, who are Servants of the Cross,
rejoice on this new and joy-filled day of our brotherhood.
The Spirit of the Order flourishes
for God, in Christ Jesus our Lord
has caused us to start afresh
In the light of his Love.
