Master General a participant in the Synod of Bishops
Master General Convokes the General Chapter
On
1 October 2008, Master General Glen Lewandowski convoked the
general chapter of the Order of the Holy Cross for 26 July through
18 August 2009. The general chapter will be held in Bandung, at the
retreat center Pratista, on the grounds of the Priory of the Holy
Cross, Cisarua, in the province of Sang Kristus. The orienting
theme for the general chapter, Starting Afresh from A Place of
Light, was chosen to give prominence to the Crosier Jubilee of 2010
as well as to focus attention for the general chapter on the
exemplary importance of the founding community, Clairlieu, as our
originating and normative place of light. In convoking the general
chapter, the Master General "cordially invite all general chapter
delegates to take seriously the responsibilities you have been
given to contribute by idea and initiative to the successful work
of the chapter. And along with these delegates, I invite all
communities and superiors of the Order to join in praying God to
consecrate our general chapter and help us – as an
eight-century faithful herald of the Word of the Cross –
start afresh."

Site of the General Chapter - Pratista
The
general chapter will be held near Bandung, Indonesia, at the
retreat center Pratista on the grounds of the Priory of the Holy
Cross, Cisarua, in the province of Sang Kristus. The Chapter will
convene on 26 July 2009 and will conclude on 18 August 2009 with a
special liturgy at the Cathedral in Bandung opening the Jubilee
Year of the Crosier Order. More information about the location and
details of the chapter will be provided in future Chapter
bulletins.
Master General a participant in the Synod of Bishops
Master
General Glen Lewandowski, O.S.C, will participate in the Synod of
Bishops which begins on Sunday, 5 October 2008. Convened by the
Holy Father Benedict XVI, the Synodal Fathers will gather in Rome
from 5 to 26 October 2008 in the XII Ordinary General Assembly of
the Synod of Bishops to reflect on the Word of God, on its
centrality in the life of the Church and on its dynamism that urges
Christians to the mission, to proclaim, with words and with the
example of their lives, the Good News of the presence among us of
the Risen Lord Jesus. Sent by the Father, He “speaks God's
own words, for God gives him the Spirit without reserve” (Jn
3:34). By the grace of the Holy Spirit, the faithful can find his
presence in the Church, in prayer, in the celebration of the Word
and, in a particular way, in the Eucharist. In addition to his
participation in the Synod, the Master General will share his
insights, reflections and a bit of news around the topic of the
